Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why use "Independent Crane Auditors"?
We are the first company to help you get more from your bridge, gantry or jib cranes and the money you spend on them.
We are also the only experts in compliance and specification who can help you secure and maintain 100% compliance to Australian Standards 1418 and 2550.
Independent Crane Auditors is Australian owned and managed. We've worked with bridge, gantry and jib cranes for many years and we have a thorough understanding of what crane owners need.
We have a proven process and a skilled and experienced engineering and management team, which sets us apart from our competitors.
2. I keep having safety incidents... What can I do and how can I prevent this?
Call us, today. Independent Crane Auditors can audit your crane to identify the root causes of safety incidents, budget blowouts and performance issues. Then we can develop a preventative maintenance strategy to suit the classification and usage of your crane and reduce or remove these incidents all together.
3. How do you get more performance value from a crane?
Our engineers often see the wrong crane used in the wrong situation, or the wrong combination of preventative and corrective maintenance, or both. In our experience, most cranes have opportunities for getting better performance value by ensuring the right crane is used, and by ensuring it's maintained with the right preventative maintenance program. Otherwise too much maintenance dollars are spent or large unplanned capital expenses are incurred. We help you avoid all this, crane by crane.
4. Why does my crane keep breaking down, even though it gets serviced?
There is a good chance your crane service provider is not inspecting or servicing your crane to an acceptable standard. Its not uncommon. Call us, and we can implement a management process to monitor the performance of the crane and the service providers on a periodic basis. Or you can use us to service and inspect your cranes, using our own crane service technicians.
5. Is my crane compliant to Australian Standards?
Very important question. Independent Crane Auditors can identify this for you by auditing your crane for design, safety and reliability and then present you with a detailed report. This will identify all the items required to bring your crane up to standard and compliance.
6. Am I responsible for the safety of our cranes?
Yes. A "crane owner" or "responsible person" has an obligation to ensure a crane is maintained in a condition that ensures the crane is safe and without risk to health when used properly. If you do not discharge these obligations, it can lead to heavy fines or imprisonment.
7. How can I get reliable service from my current "Crane service providers"?
Clients can gain simply from the "keeping them honest" factor we provide as independent experts. Independent Crane Auditors can set up a maintenance process to monitor the performance of your crane and the performance of your current "crane service provider". We can present you with a periodic report and identify any short-comings.
8. How can I make this crane safe and reliable?
The first step is to ask us to audit and report on the design, safety and reliability of your crane. We can help you implement the finding of the audit. Once complete, we can sign off your crane for compliance to Australian Standards and provide written certification for each and every crane.
9. I am too busy to worry about cranes. Who can take care of my cranes and give me an update of performance periodically?
We can definitely do that. We'll implement our whole package including our proven management process. We audit and report on the current status of your cranes, certify your cranes for compliance to Australian Standards and then develop a maintenance strategy to keep your cranes performing well and ensuring safety and compliance. Lastly, we conduct "Third Party Inspections" to manage the performance of your "crane service provider".
10. Should I upgrade this crane or replace it?
It really depends, but contact us before you invest alot of capital. Our audit and report will identify using a value and safety conscious analysis of whether a crane should be replaced or upgraded.
11. Is this crane designed to suit its application and environment?
One of the most frequent occurrences that have been identified by our engineers is how many cranes have been selected incorrectly. Many cranes don't suit the application and environment they're operating in. We can select and tender for a crane that is designed to suit your application and environment, bringing you better value and better safety.
12. Is my crane getting the required maintenance done to it?
Often not. Independent Crane Auditors can develop a maintenance strategy to suit the application, classification and usage of your cranes, identifying how often each crane should be serviced and inspected each year.
13. Do my operators have the required training and documentation to support them?
Ask us to find out. One of our experts can identify whether operators have the required training and documentation.
